Many of our clients holiday in Greece every year and have done so for countless years. For those of you who can remember the Greek islands in the late seventies and early eighties and hanker for those halcyon days, Donoussa may be the answer to your dreams.
From the moment the beautiful harbour village of Agios Stavros comes in to view as the inter-island ferry rounds the headland, hearts start beating faster in anticipation of what lies ahead. The lovely sandy beach, the whitewashed village walls overrun with bougainvillaea, the picturesque tavernas and little shops all make Agios Stavros port special.
Dinner in one of the tavernas by the beach is priceless, virtue of the sun setting in the most fantastic display of colour.
The rest of Donoussa is equally enthralling. Walkers will be rewarded in their efforts. Several excellent beaches, including Kendros (20 minute walk) and Livadi and the unspoilt rural communities of Mirsini and Kalotaritissa (about an hour’s walk to each) are within striking distance for the enthusiast. However, for 2008 the islanders plan to introduce a bus service which will make use of the new asphalted road which will connect Agios Stravros with the outlying villages. All in all, we are very taken by Donoussa and feel it captures the quintessence of peaceful, unspoilt Greek island holiday life.
Twin centre and Island Hopping: Donoussa can be combined with Athens, Naxos, Amorgos, Koufonissia, Iraklia & Schinoussa.
Excursions & Activities: Caique boats to the beach at Livadi.
